image from jazz901.orgStarting in January 2020, Jazz 90.1 WGMC has announced a series of "courses" on music, the history of jazz and more, which will be taught by some of the most knowledgeable members of the radio station's staff. The courses are open to the public. Each session will last between 90 minutes and two hours, and will be held at the WGMC Studio in Greece Olympia School, 1139 Maiden Lane, in the school's library attached to their studio. Each course is $10.00 for current Jazz 90.1 members (those who have donated to the station within the last 12 months) and $20 for non-members.

Currently the sessions and dates include:

  • History of Jazz in Rochester (1 Session) with Derrick Lucas on Tuesday, January 21st at 6:30 pm
  • Sinatra’s Capitol Years (2 Sessions) with Otto Bruno on Thursday, February 6th and 13th at 6:30 pm
  • RIJF 2020 Preview (1 Session) with Derrick Lucas on Tuesday, March 31st (after the Club Pass announcement, at 6:30 pm
  • Fitzgerald vs. Holiday (1 Session) with Otto Bruno on Thursday, April 9th, at 6:30 pm
